We start with a car chase.
After a short winter break, we go straight back to full throttle.
“The French Connection” is William Friedkin’s masterpiece – raw, nervous, brilliantly directed.
Gene Hackman as “Popeye” Doyle: a cop with more edge than the entire precinct. At his side: Roy Scheider, drier than a martini without ice.
The legendary chase under the elevated railway was filmed without permission. Fewer rules. More speed. This is what cinema feels like when everything is at stake.
The Autopapst explains why this is still the benchmark today.
