On 30 May, Jakob Lick is coming to BMW Motorrad Welt. His plan was straightforward: ride his BMW R 1200 GS Adventure from Germany all the way to the Himalayas in Nepal. He called it "Road to Himalaya" – but reality had other ideas, and it quickly became something else entirely: "Mission Unknown."
Geopolitical conflicts, forced route changes, unexpected encounters. Four months, 25,000 kilometres, 16 countries. What started as a clear route turned into an adventure full of twists – and one of the most honest travel stories you'll ever hear.
Jakob talks about the countries that surprised him most – especially Georgia: the people, the landscapes, the ancient villages. And about Kyrgyzstan, where he eventually ended up, far from his original destination, and somehow exactly where he was meant to be.
He shares insights that aren't just valuable for motorcycle riders – but for life in general. And he talks about why he used his journey to raise funds for Fellows Ride: an initiative for mental health awareness that doesn't get nearly enough attention. By the time he got home, several thousand euros had already been raised. A powerful statement for more openness and solidarity.
An afternoon of adventure, inspiration and community spirit – with a man who found far more on the road than he ever set out to look for.
The programme is open to everyone, free of charge – Register here.
