January will be hot and dusty. There is only one topic on our LED screen from January 5 to 19: the Dakar Rally. In Saudi Arabia, the motorcycles, trucks and cars will be tearing through 7,000 kilometers of desert sand for the fifth time. We show the highlights of the Dakar Rally, from the start on the Red Sea to the 600-kilometer marathon stage in the world's largest sand desert, the Rub al-Chali, to the finale in the port city of Yanbu.
* Entry free
The rally has changed continents several times in its history. But the spirit of the original Paris Dakar can still be felt, when Gaston Rahier celebrated great victories in 1985 and Jutta Kleinschmidt in 1992 on BMW-GS. The old Paris Dakar is not forgotten - long live the 2024 Dakar Rally!
