Few countries unite stronger contrasts than Iran.
On one side: hospitable people, ancient caravan routes, cities with names like Shiraz, Tabriz or Tehran. Between them: endless deserts, high mountains, dense forests. And above it all, a strict regime that can change direction at any moment.
Into this landscape rides Eva Strehler.
Not alone – her dog Polly sits in the sidecar. Two who belong together.
Eva has no group behind her, no escort vehicle, no safety net.
She has courage, curiosity, and the determination to form an opinion that goes deeper than headlines. Along the way she meets people who welcome her with open arms, who offer tea, bread, stories and laughter. She marvels at beauty, landscape, architecture and warmth.
And she experiences the other side: uncertainty, arbitrariness, borders where the road suddenly ends. A country that gets under your skin.
At the end of this journey there is a farewell that was harder than she ever imagined.
Eva tells her story without pathos and without drama. She tells it as it was: travelling with a dog, a heart and a machine. About days when the world felt wide and free. About moments that taught her not to judge too quickly. About trust, vulnerability, and the power of kindness.
Those who listen understand: travelling is more than movement.
Travelling changes you.
