From aircraft engine to boxer
The beginnings of the BMW plant in Berlin lie in aircraft engine construction. In 1939, BMW finally took over the Brandenburgische Motorenwerke and integrated it into the Group. In the 1950s, parts for the Munich motorbike production were manufactured in Berlin for the first time, and from 1966 onwards, the final assembly also took place in Berlin. With the start-up of the /5 series in 1969, the move to Berlin was complete and the BMW motorbike plant in Berlin-Spandau was born.
Since then, BMW Motorrad in Berlin has been building dreams that become reality. You can admire them in the BMW Motorrad Welt next to the factory premises in the listed brick building. Here you can immerse yourself in the world of motorbikes on around 1,000 m2. Let yourself drift, get inspired and be fascinated.

A past with a future
The historic building provides the perfect foundation for the BMW Motorrad success story. In the beginning, 400 employees produced 40 motorbikes a day. Today, more than 2,200 employees produce around 800 vehicles a day for our customers and fans in an area of almost 220,000 square meters. The bikes that roll off the assembly line in Berlin make millions of bikers’ hearts beat faster worldwide. The BMW motorbike plant in Berlin is one of the most traditional and at the same time most innovative production sites in Berlin and the region.
Directions and parking
Of course, the best way to get to BMW Motorrad Welt Berlin is with your bike, because there are free motorbike parking spaces on site. But arriving by car or car sharing is no problem either: public parking is available in the immediate vicinity. And if you’re coming by public transport, simply take bus X33 or the U7 to the Zitadelle stop. Coming from the west, you can also take bus X33 to the bus stop “Motorradwerk”.
